Tutorial Tuesday: Teacup Planter

(I am still working on a way to make this tutorial workable; please don't try unless you know how to keep the paint from bubbling.)
This project was one I was really excited for but unfortunately had a few snags. I didn't let those stop me though, I persevered! I was so determined to make a pretty pot for my plants I accidentally murdered one of them...I am a bad plant mommy, but you know that if you've read my Leibster Award Facts. I've got to try though, my thumb wants to be green!

Tutorial Tuesday: Antler Hair Barrettes

This is the second project inspired by Lani Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone Series. I finished the series last week and I was super happy with it. Lani is a great author and finished her series gracefully and happily without being cliche or stupid. It was fantastic! Last time I made a necklace inspired by the main heroine's here, this week I am making a project inspired by the third books cover!

I present to you golden antler Hair Barrettes! Perfect for if you want a little chimera in your outfit! These also could work for any nature-loving/bohemian girls! Find out how to make your own wild accessory below.

Tutorial Tuesday: Recyceled Flower Vase

For those of you who read last weeks post, I just started reading the third Daughter of Smoke and Bone Book and decided I'm going to post my second themed tutorial for that series next week(read the first one here).  Today (and since its Earth Day it seemed fitting for this recycling project) I wanted to share something I made to brighten up my office space. I got the inspiration suddenly at work one day while trying to come up with something to make with a blog giveaway prize I had won!
I used an awesome stencil I won in the Mod Podge Rocks Giveaway over at Persia Lou for this tutorial and I am super excited with how it turned out! Find out how to make your own recycled vase below.

Tutorial Tuesday: Wishbone Necklace

Books are a great source or inspiration for me (read about past book projects here and here and here) and this week you may have guessed I was inspired by Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Its a mystical tale of two worlds, a girl with blue hair, her family of  monsters, teeth, love, betrayal, angels and wishes. That's where this week's DIY comes in!

First things first, have you read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Lani Taylor yet? (Or the whole series since the third and final book came out last week?)

If so, wonderful, you will fully appreciate what inspired me to create this and next week's projects!
If not, what are you waiting for!?! Go out and buy it! Download it for your e-book reader! Borrow it from a friend, or the library (a friend who just happens to be a building)!

That's my subtle way of saying I highly recommend it.You don't need to have read the series to enjoy this tutorial though!

Tutorial Tuesday: Bright Idea Globe

The light bulb is an age old symbol of inspiration and ideas. Therefore it makes sense that someone like me who is always bursting with creativity and scribbling down endless ideas would be inspired by it.

Today's project is part glitter globe, part inspiration, part decoration. Find out how to make this sparkly DIY down below!

Tutorial Tuesday: Binder Pencil Pouch

This week I had a goal. Finally get my blog/shop/business planning all in order. To do this I needed to give my blog binder a complete makeover. I started off by making this handy pencil pouch that can fit any three ring binder and I shared the tutorial with you guys below!

I use a little mini binder I got from staples for all of my Cwafty planning needs. This means I pretty much have to buy the expensive accessories, or make my own. The binder was expensive enough, $7, but its good quality so I was willing to make the investment. Also I love to personalize my supplies, so its a win-win; quality and customatiz-ability.

Tutorial Wednesday: G.O.T. House Greyjoy Necklace

So do you know what happens three weeks from today?(well the day this was posted). Are you as excited as I am!?

If you haven't guessed, Game of Thrones season 4 premiers on April 6th. I love the series and have read all the books. (I had to read them all before I watched any of the show, I'm much more of a book person.) Any way, the other day I watched this little trailer/teaser from HBO and I have had dragons and lions and wolves on the mind ever since. Oh and krakens. Especially krakens, which brings me to today's tutorial.

I am pretty much a Dany for the throne fan, but I do have love for most of the houses. My favorite is House Greyjoy though. Which is unfortunate, because
SPOILER ALERT: Things aren't getting any better for Theon any time soon really.

I stilled wanted to show my House Greyjoy pride with this tutorial though!

Tutorial Tuesday: Geometric Glittered Throw Pillow

I'm having a very productive week! I got this and part of another project done, I've been going strong on my art challenge, did my blog planning for the month, and made a list of things I needed and found everything at Goodwill for pretty cheap. Today I want to share this modern and sparkly throw pillow I made!

It looks like a pillow you'd find in a genie's lamp or a wizard's den. I love that in my decor items.

Tutorial Tuesday: Dress to Gloves Refashion

Hey guys! Today I have another refashion for you. I turned a little black dress into a pair of long black gloves! They are pretty snazzy.

LBD to LBG has a nice ring to it don't you think girls?

Tutorial Tuesday: "Choose your own Adventure" DIY Pajama Pants

Yay! This is sort-of-technically my first D.I.M Wardrobe post! How exciting!

Today I am proud to share with you a project I have been working on for a while. Its a big one! I am going to show you how to make the perfect pair of pajama pants specifically for you! I start off by teaching you how to take the proper measurements, show you how to turn those numbers into a pattern, and then show you how to construct your ideal pajamas. There are a few different options with this tutorial, such as inclusion of pockets or not, and the choice between elastic or drawstring pants.

Tutorial Tuesday: Companion Cube Pop Up Card

Happy almost Valentines Day! My gift to you is this cute pop up card! Or at least teaching you how to make it so you can give it to some one you need to show your appreciation for!

Also, if you read my first portal tutorial, I am clearly getting the itch back, because I have another portal tutorial coming up soon!

Tutorial Tues-whoops it's Friday: Inspiration Board Organizer

So due to video difficulties once again, (I swear, I just won't try any more videos, they never work and it always puts me behind schedule and makes me miss Tutorial Tuesdays), I am late in getting a post up for this week. I did this one late at night though, when it was finally obvious that I was not going to be able to edit the video for the tutorial I'd been working on for 2 weeks. But I digress.

Today I'm going to show you how to make an organizer out of cardboard, glue and scrap booking paper to upgrade your inspiration board!

Tutorial Tuesday: Heart Bun

Hey guys! I'm back!

Took me a little longer than I though it would to get all settled in and unpacked but I am pretty much there! There are a few odds and ends that need homes and an non-urgent box or two that needs unpacked but it feels really good to be in my new home. I'm absolutely loving it! More on that later, I plan on taking some pictures of the place latter for the blog. For now lets focus on the tutorial.

Today I am trying something a little bit different; a hair tutorial. Normally I'm scouring the internet looking for things to do with my rabidly growing mane, but today I had an idea. When I Googled it and I couldn't find exactly what I was imagining, I knew I had to fill the void!

It's a pretty easy style, it takes less then a minute. Check out the instructions below!

Tutorial Tuesday: Mad Hatter Coffee Mug

Today I'm going to teach you a "secret"! The sharpie on ceramics craft craze? It doesn't really work.

I know, I was devastated too. I made myself a sharpie mug and a plate and neither of them survived a single wash. Maybe I messed it up, but doing some quick Google research led me to believe I am right. I still really wanted to make myself a nice personalized mug though so I went to the craft store and did some exploring!

I found Martha Stewart's Craft Paints and it seemed like they would do the trick! Check out how I made this cute mug, and the typography pattern below!

*Closed* Tutorial Thursday: Mario Stocking and Giveaway!

Can you believe it? It's less than a week til Christmas! December has just flown by.

Here's what we're going to be making today!

I don't even have a tree up yet (haven't decided if I feel its worth it when I'm going to be moving 5 days after Christmas.), but I really wanted to make/do something Christmassy before December ended.

Tutorial Tuesday/Monday: Portal Lemon-ade Wall Display

I could not wait til Tuesday to post this, I was too excited!

The Portal series has a very special place in my heart. When I first played through it I was super inspired. It helped that a friend made me play one right before two came out so I got a giant dose of Portal goodness all at once. I must have crafted mostly Portal themed things for about 2 months.

The other day (during the week of many craft fails) I was racking my brains for an idea for a shadow box, because I have two sitting around collecting dust, and I suddenly heard the echo of Cave Johnson in my head.

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

I knew what I must do. I needed to make life take back it's lemons.

Bonus Tutorial Saturday: Paper Cut Pop Art

This is a remake of the tutorial that wasn't up to par last week. It turned out much better this time. I really wanted to make something colorful for my walls/desk (because I have no walls,  only windows). Something colorful, something cwafty, something bright, something that really popped!

I came up with a way to make striking pop art that is only as difficult as you want it to be!

Tutorial Tuesday: Studded Sweater Collar

I had a great birthday weekend!  But I'm going to do a post about that later. Today I combined two things that are big in the DIY community. Studding things, and adding collars to tops!

Neither of which I have tried before, but have wanted to give a shot. I'm all about killing two birds with one stone.

Oh before I forget! I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who participated in my giveaway! The winner has claimed her prize and it left on its way to her today. There will definitely be more to come, and if you guys have any ideas for stuff you would like to see given away let me know!

Tutorial Tuesday: Gold Leaf Headband

Fall has fallen! The weather has been wonderful here and I was inspired by all the leaves in my backyard to make today's project. A gold leaf headband!

Today's tutorial had to be made twice, the first one was a video tutorial but due to technological apocalypses that one is not useable so here is a photo one!

The good news is because I had to make the project twice I have two headbands so I'm giving one away to one of you! Learn more after the tutorial.

Tutorial Tuesday: Pin Cushion Thimble Necklace

Sadly, I think my Halloween posts are over. I don't even have time to think about the wonder that is the 31st until November 1st. I can't wait for next year though!

Today we are going to be making something I have wanted for a really long time.

I saw the necklace that inspired this one a few years ago and I'm not sure if its the same one, but there are similar ones on shanalogic.com. That one is a little pricey though and I remember the one I originally loved being maybe even more. This DIY one was pretty cheap since I had everything but the wool. Heres how you can make one too!
