Tutorial Tuesday: Christmas-Light Balloon Garland

About 2 months ago I got a job at a party store. Working there has been amazing. Even though I loved working in pizza this has been the most fun  I've had at a job. Blowing up balloons, decorating the store, and getting to dress up everyday we're not really things I ever expected to be paid for. It's given me a whole new appreciation for holidays.
I've been trying to come up with some interesting balloon tutorials since I started there and today's tutorial is the result!

  • 5 inch balloons
  • Green paper
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Ribbon
  • Clear tape
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • X-acto knife

Step 1: Blow up 5 to 6 balloons to the same size. Making sure the bottom of the balloon extends to create that bulb shape.

Tape down the end of the balloon as shown.

Step 2: Using your ruler mark out rectangles that are 1 1/2 in. by 6 in.

 Cut them out.

Use your X-acto knife to make 2  small slits that will be perpendicular when the rectangle is made into a loop.

About 1/4 in. from each short end cut a slit.

Have one side go in one direction and the other in the opposite so that they can lock together as shown. Glue together.

Step 3: Place your green loop of paper at the top of the balloon. Apply some hot glue around the inside rim. Use a low temp glue gun to avoid popping the balloon.

Step 4: Slide your balloons one by one onto your ribbon.

Space them how you wish and hang them where ever needs a bit of Christmas cheer!

I hope you guys have a great holiday! I'm now making a tradition out of having a Christmas DIY right before the big day.

PS: Tomorrow I've got a DIY wrapping paper tutorial in case you need any last minute inspiration.

Til Next Time!
