Art Adventure Time 3: Here Thar Be Dragons!

Due to me forgetting I had a deadline to meet this week (duh RaChil, tighten up) I did not finish a tutorial for today but will have something extra special in store for you on Thursday, so stay tuned! Regularly scheduled programing will return next week.

I finally got around to editing the pictures/finishing my art journaling for this A.A.T., so I figured it would be perfect to hold you until Thursday! Enjoy

What a beautiful specimen of Japanese water dragon! I believe I shall call this beauty Gideon. I spotted Gideon swimming around a murky pond surrounded by sun bleached cat tales and sun-warmed rocks!

He was not what I expected going to see a place I thought would just be filled with trees and plants, my local Arboretum!

Tutorial Tuesday: Recyceled Flower Vase

For those of you who read last weeks post, I just started reading the third Daughter of Smoke and Bone Book and decided I'm going to post my second themed tutorial for that series next week(read the first one here).  Today (and since its Earth Day it seemed fitting for this recycling project) I wanted to share something I made to brighten up my office space. I got the inspiration suddenly at work one day while trying to come up with something to make with a blog giveaway prize I had won!
I used an awesome stencil I won in the Mod Podge Rocks Giveaway over at Persia Lou for this tutorial and I am super excited with how it turned out! Find out how to make your own recycled vase below.

Tutorial Tuesday: Wishbone Necklace

Books are a great source or inspiration for me (read about past book projects here and here and here) and this week you may have guessed I was inspired by Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Its a mystical tale of two worlds, a girl with blue hair, her family of  monsters, teeth, love, betrayal, angels and wishes. That's where this week's DIY comes in!

First things first, have you read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Lani Taylor yet? (Or the whole series since the third and final book came out last week?)

If so, wonderful, you will fully appreciate what inspired me to create this and next week's projects!
If not, what are you waiting for!?! Go out and buy it! Download it for your e-book reader! Borrow it from a friend, or the library (a friend who just happens to be a building)!

That's my subtle way of saying I highly recommend it.You don't need to have read the series to enjoy this tutorial though!

Tutorial Tuesday: Bright Idea Globe

The light bulb is an age old symbol of inspiration and ideas. Therefore it makes sense that someone like me who is always bursting with creativity and scribbling down endless ideas would be inspired by it.

Today's project is part glitter globe, part inspiration, part decoration. Find out how to make this sparkly DIY down below!

1 Year of Ceramics

In my senior year of high school I took an AP year long english class, art 1, art 2, sci vis 1 (scientific and technical visualization), game art 2, and ceramics (both semesters). It was a really fun year and I didn't have any more credits to fill after powering through the first three years, so I learned some handy-in-my-field-skills.

Ceramics might have been my favorite just because of the freedom of the curriculum, plus I got to make whatever I wanted when I took it the second time, I just had to regularly turn pieces in. There were a lot of ups and downs in ceramics, its both where I finished some of my favorite pieces of work ever and broke projects I'd spent weeks working on before I could get them in the kiln. I wanted to show you guys the pieces I still have and use on a pretty regular basis.
